In 1971, John and Helen Buehler bought a 300 acre retirement property in Napa on the site of a pre-prohibition winery. These hillside vineyards are near the base of Howell Mountain. Their son, John Jr., started to grow grapes on the property for sale to area winemakers. In 1978, he made 700 cases of wine and gradually increased production. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel vineyards are over 30 years old. ""Well-proportioned, with a mix of spicy currant, blackberry, cedar and mineral notes, picking up a hint of anise on the finish. Ends with a long, persistent finish. Drink now through 2013. "" Wine Spectator rated 90. |
