Michel Roland, a Bordeaux based oenologist, is a well-known wine consultant with hundreds of clients across 13 countries. He also owns or co-owns many wineries. Cuvelier los Andes is a part of the Clos de los Siete Group of Wineries owned by Michel Roland and six other French wine merchants. Cuvelier los Andes is located in Uco, near Mendoza. “Cuvelier is the third Valle de Uco winery contributing to Michel Rolland's Clos de los Siete. This wine is a corte (blend) of 62% Malbec (accounting for the violet hues), 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Syrah, 7% Merlot, and a 3% trace of Petit Verdot. 60% of the wine was given 11 months in French oak barriques, with the balance tank aged. The result is a complex and pleasant aroma reflecting the dominant varietals, and a well balanced mouthfeel that isn't so dense or oaky as to be tiring.” Argentinewineguide.com rated 4 (out of 4) stars.
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Jan/Feb 08
(15%
alcohol; an assemblage based on 62% malbec) Full ruby-red. Wild aromas
of black raspberry, truffle, game, chocolate, roasted meat, tar and
sexy oak. Lush and smooth but not overly sweet, with rich black
raspberry and iron flavors showing a positive rusticity. Finishes with
substantial dusty tannins. I like the French funk here. 88 points
