Domaine d’Esperance is a small producer in the Bas-Armagnac district of Gascony in Southwest France between Toulouse and Bordeaux. Jean-Louis and Claire, the Comte & Comtesse de Montesquiou, purchased Domaine d'Esperance in 1990. When they first began, the hillside property had fallen into disrepair, but the vineyards were known to have produced excellent white wine and Armagnac. Jean-Louis and Claire have now fully restored the house and the vineyards (now 35 hectares) to their former glory. They produce white and red wine as well as Armagnac and Eau de Vie. Made from Sauvignon Blanc (60%) and Gros Mansang (40%), this wine is light, refreshing, flavorful and delicious. It will pair well with most summertime meals, including salads, chicken, fish and barbeque. |
