The Ogulin family moved from Slovenia to Clear Lake around 1875. Their original 400 acre plot is part of the current Shannon Estate. Fifteen of the Muscat and Zinfandel vines they planted still exist and are grafted to create new vines. Clay & Margarita Shannon acquired the vineyards in 1995 and made the transition from growing grapes for other winemakers to making wine. ""Classic grass, gooseberry and zingy lime flavors have a zesty acidity and a hint of pea blossom and passion fruit. Drink now"" Wine Spectator rated 87. |
