Michael and David are the fifth generation of the Phillips family to run this Lodi farm. It started as a 160 acre vegetable farm that was homesteaded in the 1860’s just after the civil war. Things changed during Prohibition when the juice from 15 grape varietals was shipped all over the US with instructions on how not to turn it into wine. It is now a 350 acre premium grape vineyard. This wine is sourced from 7 Lodi vineyards. The brothers couldn’t resist drawing on their Catholic School background in naming the wine. “A good value is the 2006 7 Deadly Zins. It is a very good effort showing plenty of oak in addition to abundant varietal character in its briery, cherry, raspberry, earthy personality.” Drink by 2010. Wine Advocate rated 86 |
